The Client
Progressive Initiatives is a non-profit focused on elevating the surrounding North Dallas communities and youth with effective community events, and education programs designed to progress the community further. They are dedicated to the ideas of being “Present. Passionate. Impactful. Relevant”.
The Problem
The organization’s has been established for many years, but it appears that there were a few things that needed updating. The core issue is that while they were having events consistently
Issues:
- Old Website Heavily Text Based
- Section for their youth engagements and community engagements where not separated
- Missing Information for a non-profit organization
- Lack of a consistent format structure
The Solution
For this project, we kept with the current content management system. A number of active users were comfortable with how the system worked and didn’t want to change it. Instead, we first updated the website to be more image-driven rather then text driven. This allows for users visiting to get a visual sense of the activities and events the organization is doing.
A pain point that needed to be addressed is adding into their website all of organizations activities and information that was originally missing. This included things like company
Additionally, we organized the website into two sections one for their youth and the other for their general community engagement. This way there were clear distinction and easier navigation for parents looking for programs for their children and community members looking for events to attend.
Finally, we created template pages for their future events so that their members could easily copy and input/update new content for their events as they are an events based organization.
